Green economy, soft tourism, sustainable mobility or effective climate protection: we are committed to the sustainable and future-oriented development of the Alpine region.

Your donation helps us...

...in our communication: we communicate in several languages, informatively and with a high public profile. We publicise exemplary projects, criticise undesirable developments and introduce innovative actors.

...in networking: We connect people, projects and organisations across linguistic, cultural, geographical and political borders.

...in political work: We put pressure on politics, business and administration and work in politically relevant committees.

...in action: With our projects, we in turn encourage others to implement their own projects.

AfterAlpineIce
AfterAlpineIce
What will the Alps look like without ice and glaciers? The climate crisis is accelerating glacier retreat and fundamentally transforming the Alpine region. What may at first appear to be a change in the landscape has far-reaching consequences: ecosystems and water cycles are being disrupted, soil development is changing, local climates are shifting, and natural processes in high mountain areas are being permanently affected.
WISER
WISER
The Alps have a rich heritage of using and processing local natural fibres, such as wool, hemp, flax and silk. Yet much of this potential remains untapped today: regional processing infrastructure has largely disappeared, traditional knowledge is being lost, and much of the value creation takes place outside the Alpine region. At the same time, the textile industry is seeing growing demand for sustainable and circular alternatives.
RE-PEAT-it!
RE-PEAT-it!
Peatlands provide valuable ecosystem functions in the Alps, but drainage, intensive land use and the climate crisis are placing them under growing pressure. The RE-PEAT-it! project strengthens knowledge, cooperation, and the capacity to act on peatland conservation across the Alpine region.
Alpine Youth on the Move
Alpine Youth on the Move
The “Alpine Youth on the Move” project strengthens young people's participation in topics such as sustainability, mobility, and political processes. Young people plan and organize activities and gatherings for a community.
FLOW-BIOS
FLOW-BIOS
Nature-based solutions play a vital role in addressing the rising risk of flooding across the Alps, but this requires land that is often privately owned. That is why the FLOW-BIOS project, in collaboration with Austrian and Swiss UNESCO biosphere reserves, is investigating how nature-based solutions can be successfully implemented on private land.
