Bringing issues to the fore

From the mobility transition to glacier retreat: the 2025 Annual Report shows how CIPRA International is raising awareness of key Alpine issues – and encourages people to help shape a future worth living in.

Providing clear information, fostering dialogue, calling for change: this is what CIPRA International’s communication work stands for. Through policy statements, political advocacy and projects, it is among other things committed to promoting more sustainable mobility in the Alpine region. At the Future Forum Alps 2025, over 160 participants from various Alpine countries discussed challenges and strategies for dealing with the increasingly scarce resource of water. Through publications such as the latest issue of SzeneAlpen, “After the Glacier”, or the podcast series “Voices along the Via Alpina”, CIPRA combines personal stories with the sharing of knowledge – across linguistic and national borders. “Our task is to share knowledge and experiences and to bring people together in conversation”, emphasises Jakob Dietachmair, Executive Director of CIPRA International. “This is the only way to develop viable solutions for a more sustainable Alpine region.”

Projects on inclusion and soil conservation
The Erasmus+ youth project “Via Alpina Youth” facilitated inclusive mountain experiences along the long-distance hiking trail. The projects “Ground:breaking” and “Listen” demonstrate how to achieve land restoration and what participation has to do with listening. The national and regional offices present selected projects and events on topics such as the energy transition, climate protection and biodiversity.
Liechtenstein’s Minister for the Environment, Sabine Monauni, is convinced: “Only by acting together can we preserve our living, economic and natural environment in the long term. The cooperation with CIPRA underlines Liechtenstein’s commitment to a liveable and sustainable Alpine region.”
