Will Europe's largest photovoltaic installation soon be in the Alps?

Feb 14, 2008 / alpMedia
Europe's largest photovoltaic installation is set to be built in the French département of Alpes-de-Haute-Provence. Negotiations have already taken place for the lease of the plot of land on which the installation is to be built, at an altitude of 1,000 m above sea level.
By 2009 the installation could have a capacity of 30-50 megawatt. This would make the plant, which is due to be built in the early summer of 2008, Europe's most powerful. The main benefit for the installation is its location: the area around Curbans is considered to be one of the sunniest on the French mainland. The project is expected to require investments of between 150 and 250 million euros.
