Final Report on Decoupling Transport Impacts and Economic Growth

The project has three main stages: (1) a review of the main economic factors responsible for transport growth, such as economic growth, changes in mobility pattern, modal share and other factors affecting demand, such as speed, information and communication technologies (2) analysis of decoupling measures and instruments based on case studies addressing transport implications of dematerialization of the economy, spatial organisation of production and consumption (3) identification of policy options focusing on economic instruments, notably fees, charges and taxes that encourage more sustainable transport while minimising economic costs.
