BIZ Mobility - Mobility of business and industrial zones for improved connectivity of peripheral areas
The main objective of the project is to support the transition towards more sustainable patterns of daily commuting by developing practical, coordinated, and transferable mobility solutions tailored to local conditions. Through strengthened cooperation between municipalities, companies, and other relevant stakeholders, the BIZ Mobility project aims to improve access to workplaces, reduce the environmental impacts of transport, and contribute to a better quality of life in the participating areas.
The project will focus on analysing the current mobility situation and commuting habits of employees in the selected pilot areas, preparing mobility plans for business and industrial zones, and testing practical solutions that can encourage long-term behavioural change. Special attention will be given to innovative approaches such as the introduction of mobility coordinators, the development of mobility agreements among key stakeholders, and the design of financial models to support sustainable mobility management.
In addition, the project will raise awareness and promote walking, cycling, public transport, and carpooling as viable alternatives to individual car use. Through a combination of pilot activities, stakeholder cooperation, and knowledge transfer, BIZ Mobility aims to develop practical tools and recommendations that can also be applied in other regions facing similar mobility challenges.
The solutions will be tested in three pilot areas: Škofja Loka (Slovenia), Čakovec (Croatia), and Nagykanizsa (Hungary), with the goal of transferring good practices to other areas across Central Europe.
