The project recharge.green brought together 16 partners to develop strategies and tools for decision-making on such issues. The analysis and comparison of the costs and benefits of renewable energy, ecosystem services, and potential trade-offs was a key component in this process. The project lasted from October 2012 to June 2015 and was co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund in the Alpine Space Programme.

CIPRA played a leading role in the development of the recharge.green project and was responsible for public relations as well as organising both the mid-term and the concluding conferences. CIPRA Germany has engaged CIPRA International with carrying out some of these tasks. CIPRA received financial support for the recharge.green project from the German Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety.
