Working together for better public mobility
By promoting sustainable mobility solutions in rural areas, dependence on individual car transport can be reduced. This can lower mobility costs and reduce CO2 emissions and environmental pollution. Noise pollution and traffic risks can also be minimised in this way. “The Alpine countries can benefit from their mutual wealth of experience”, says Julika Jarosch, project manager at CIPRA France. “The different backgrounds often give rise to major creative processes in European dialogue.”
The DINAMO project aims to tackle the challenges of public transport in rural areas of the Alps, strengthen cooperation between German and French stakeholders and develop solutions. Bilingual online workshops explain European strategies and funding opportunities in relation to local mobility; communication measures are also used to raise awareness of the topic. The project accompanies and moderates the exchanges between two pilot regions in France and Germany, which will develop local mobility action plans in various meetings and mutual study visits. “DINAMO – Developing International Nature Adapted Mobility Options” will run until late summer 2024 and is funded by the European Union’s ERASMUS+ programme. Municipalities can apply to become pilot regions until the end of October.
