AlpWeek 2024 in Nova Gorica
The anniversary edition in Nova Gorica/SI will look back on the various developments in the Alpine region over the last two decades: which initiatives and policies have been successful? And what types of cooperation or projects can help further strengthen sustainable development in the Alps? The programme spotlights the convergence of three key themes central to the Alpine Conference’s Multi-Annual Work Programme 2023-2030: biodiversity and ecosystems; climate action; and quality of life. Participants will learn about the limits of climate change mitigation and adaptation strategies from Lučka Kajfež Bogataj, a member of the IPCC, and hear optimistic words about future biodiversity governance from Serena Arduino, the president of CIPRA International. Christian Felber will also explain how the Economy for the Common Good can contribute to measuring quality of life.
CIPRA will organise sessions on the topics of summer tourism, soil biodiversity in theory and in practice, the challenges of pastoralism and multiple climate risks. Furthermore, we invite you to a screening of the movie ACTIVISTS on the Monday evening. There are exciting excursions into the beautiful surroundings of Nova Gorica to discover the region’s diverse heritage and how it lives on today. Cultural events and creative activities with young people will complete the AlpWeek’s dynamic agenda.
