I Description of the measure
Title in original language: Transition énergétique du réseau de chaleur de Chambéry (5ème réseau de France)
Municipality / regional entity: Chambéry
Principal nomination: Technological
Secondary nomination(s): Financial
Principal field: Energy
Secondary field(s): Buildings & construction
Start date: 2005
Duration: 1st phase until 2014
Objectives:
The 3 steps of the first phase which should allow to reach more than 50 % of renewable and recovered energies in Chambéry (58'500 inhabitants): 1: 2008: connection of the energy from waste plant Chambéry Métropole (25%) 2 : 2011 : installation of a biomass heating plant (7 MW) within the network Hauts de Chambéry (12%) 3 : 2013 : installation of a biomass heating plant (2x8 MW) within the basic network (17 %, then 26 % in 2018) In total 54 % in 2014 and 63 % in 2018
Activities:
Step 1: modernisation of the energy from waste plant with heat recovery from two additional furnaces. Establishment of a connection between the two plants Step 2: establishment of a wood energy plant of 7 MW Step 3: establishment of a wood energy plant of 2x 8 MW
Results:
See § 11
II Assessment criteria
Mitigation effects: Very high
The first step of the energetic transition of the heating network allows to reduce the CO2 emissions by 40 000 tons/year which is 10 % of the total emissions of Chambéry and 22 % of the emissions of the housing and tertiary sector
