Good Practice
Path information system for sustainable tourism

Example of a center of information for paths in Bad Reichenhall.
Aims
Objective of the project is the reduction of CO2 from traffic emissions. The basis to do this is the preparation of environment information for the general public, which can also serve as marketing tool and unique selling proposition for the positioning of the city in tourism.
Realization
The paths are divided into categories and classified and data are recorded digitally graphically and geographically. This serves to draft general maps with a regional map and detailed maps focused on the relevant path centre. Besides this, these activities represent the foundation for a future web based information system.
The selected routes in the area are branded either by adding adhesive pictograms to the existing signs or, failing these, through the creation of own simple pictogram signs.
Impact
The project aims at integrating new and already existing excursions proposals in and around Bad Reichenhall, that have been developed by a number of groups concerned. Existing resources about the paths are arranged and utilised. Besides, a greater ecologic and economic effect is reached through the inclusion of the existing infrastructure.
