LAND Management in the era of the new CAP - Final Conference

LANDMARK is a broad consortium of academic and applied research institutes, Chambers of Agriculture and policy makers. LANDMARK has developed a coherent framework for soil management aimed at sustainable food production for the EU on the premise that the cross-sectorial nature of soils gives rise to a range of societal expectations. These are formalised through EU policies and associated instruments that can give rise to contrasting expectations that create pressures on land owners, farmers and policy makers to do the right thing for soil. However, these key stakeholder often lack the necessary knowledge or support tools to help them with their decision making process.

Through a novel approach, the workshop will engage in an interactive manner with stakeholders having a European perspective on the competing demands and expectations for soil functions and associated ecosystem services. The workshop will define pathways for optimising the consideration of soil functions in land management under the Strategic Plans of the post 2021 CAP and related policy fields.
