Alpine Climate Action

Protest movements like “Fridays for Future” have increased young people’s interest in politics. Demonstrators have demanded tougher political measures for climate protection. The “Alpine Climate Action” project is aimed at young people who are not yet politically active but who are concerned about climate protection.

In online workshops on topics such as digital mobilisation, party political participation and engagement in civil society, participants learn how to get involved politically – at municipal, regional, national or European level. Politically active peers and experts will offer them various methods and opportunities.

The project thus strengthens the Alpine-wide networks of people and initiatives who are committed to climate protection. It is also intended to lay the foundations for the organisation of an Alpine-wide climate camp.

Duration: August 2021 – August 2022

Project language: German

Funding: The project is funded by the German Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation, Nuclear Safety and Consumer Protection (BMUV).

Climate Fresk Online Workshop: 30th of June

Raise awareness for climate change. The climate Fresk tool is a trigger for transformation and empowers participants to become informed and engaged advocates for a sustainable future. The game is particularly useful to introduce the complex problems of climate change in a fun and playful way, and can be used in youth work, school or community groups.

If you want to facilitate a Climate Fresk workshop, you need to participate in one before. The workshop is based on a 42-card game. Each card represents an element, a cause or a consequence of climate change. As a team you are to find the cause-effect relationship between the different components of climate change.

Alpine Climate Action Meeting: 7th & 8th of July 2022, Innsbruck/A

Would you like to get more involved in climate protection? Discuss, meet and network with like-minded people and NGO representatives. Develop an Alpine Climate Action Camp in one of the workshops: Collect creative ideas for a climate camp, design a programme that is not only fun, but also effective in starting climate action with young people. Meet the CIPRA Youth Council (CYC) and get to know how they work towards a sustainable future in the Alps. On top of it you will become a climate puzzle facilitator*.

*Please note that having done one climate fresk workshop before the training is mandatory. If you cannot join the 30st of June session (online), please register and participate in another one. List here: https://climatefresk.org/registration-workshop/
