Who can participate?

You are between 18 and 30 years old and have spent part of your life in the Alpine region? You have ideas and wishes about how you would like to change the Alpine region in the long term, and are full of drive? It doesn't matter whether your ideas are still in their infancy or you are already on the verge of implementing them. What counts is the will and the desire to change your environment. You want to become an “Alpine Changemaker” because you are passionate about the sustainable and collaborative development of the Alpine region. Your commitment and its effects are more important to you than collecting certificates of participation. You would rather implement ideas for a good life in the Alps with like-minded people and drive change.

Apply now for the “Alpine Changemaker Basecamp” with:

  • Letter of motivation or video/audio file (max. 2 min.)
  • Idea/project outline for an “Alpine Changemaker” initiative (one and a half pages)
    • Introduce your idea or project that sets impulses for sustainable development in the Alpine Space.
    • Describe the intended impact (social, ecological or otherwise) of your idea/project on the immediate environment: What change do you want to initiate? How do you want the affected community to benefit from your idea/project and be involved in its implementation?
  • Curriculum vitae (one page)

Send the entire application via email to . If you have any questions about the Basecamp, please contact Marion Ebster (project manager) at +423 237 53 53 02.

Application deadline is May 15, 2021.

Costs: The participation fee for the “Alpine Changemaker Basecamp” is 100 euros. This covers the costs for accommodation, meals, travel to and from the camp by public transportation.

Accommodation: Accommodation will be in shared rooms in Poschiavo/CH.

Language: The working language at Basecamp is English. A solid basic understanding of the English language is therefore a prerequisite, but it is not necessary to be fluent in English. Participants are encouraged to support each other in communication; the coaches will also help. In principle, there should be room for as many Alpine languages as possible. The Basecamp itself takes place in an Italian-speaking environment.

Continuous participation in the Basecamp and a willingness to actively participate in the mentoring programme that follows it as well as in the final event in July 2022 (three days, costs will be covered) in Silandro/I are prerequisites and must be taken into account by the participants when registering.

The "Alpine Changemaker Basecamp" project is funded by the Mercator Foundation Switzerland.
