whatsalps youth

Apr 26, 2017
[Project completed] Many young people spend most of their time indoors, sit in front of the TV or the computer. The "whatsalp youth"-project lured them out. The CIPRA Youth Council, together with CIPRA International and other project partners, was implementing it.

Young adults from all alpine countries met in Austria, France and Liechtenstein. There they met up with the "whatsalp" group, consisting of Harry Spiess and Dominik Siegrist. Starting in June 2017, they crossed the Alpine arch from Vienna /A to Nice /F during four months, documenting the changes in the Alpine regions. Both groups went on a few stages together and discussed topics such as the environment, alpine culture and communication. Thus, closed workshop spaces were replaced by the open, picturesque landscape of the Alps.

The young adults independently designed the activities for the "whatsalp" meetings and learned to develop and implement their own projects. The CIPRA Youth Council played a leading role: the members were responsible for the search of participants, the organization and implementation of the program and the reporting. The project "whatsalp youth" was funded by the EU-programme Erasmus +.
