RESEARCH AND DEVELOMPMENT CENTRE PIPISTREL
The company Pipistrel is an innovative producer of energy efficient light aircrafts with a special focus on R&D. With winning of two NASA awards, they showed that solar energy can be used efficiently also in light aircrafts. They produced the world's first 4-seat electric aircraft.

VAL VENOSTA RAILWAY REQUALIFICATION (MERANO-MALLES)
The Venosta valley has a long East-West extension (very similar to the ALPSTAR case-study, Valtellina), no motorways but only an old, narrow national road. This road crosses the small villages and the main centers located in the valley and "absorbs" many different traffic streams (long distance, short distance, light and heavy vehicles, cars and buses). The requalification of the old railway was the right answer.

EXPERIMENTATION OF ELECTRIC BICYCLES IN THE NATURAL REGIONAL PARK OF QUEYRAS
Electrical bicycles are put at disposal for tourits and inhabitants during the summer season. On the whole territory 36 bicycles can be borrowed free of charge in tourism residences, hotels, campings. They allow the tourists to visit the territory with a low CO2 content means of transportation despite the slopes of the mountainous area.

PLAN B: OTHER WAYS FROM A TO B
The municipalities Bregenz, Hard, Kennelbach, Lauterach, Wolfurt and Schwarzach, all situated in the lower Rhine Valley, develop and implement together sustainable and enviromentally friendly mobility programms. Together they planned and implemented various measures for kindergartens, schools, companies and the individual leisure time of the citizens. The people of Bregenz, Hard, Kennelbach, Lauterach, Wolfurt and Schwarzach are ecologically sensitive and healthy on their ways.

STMICROELECTRONICS COMPANY MOBILITY PLAN (PDE)
STMicroelectronics Grenoble Company Mobility Plan is aimed at encouraging alternative transports rather than the car for home to work journeys and professional travels for its 2 500 employees. Actions have been implemented so that public transports , cycles, carsharing and clean vehicles should be more and more used as the increase of its workforce makes the situation prioritary.

LANDRAD – PEDELECS
LANDRAD is a research project on the usage and functionality of Pedal Electric Cycles (Pedelecs). The main question was how Pedelecs can be used in everyday life and how effective pedelecs are in relation to normal car usage. Individuals and institutions (communities, companies etc.) participated in this research. Once per quarter they answerd questions about their daily mobility routine and gave to the Kairos gGmbh the data of their Pedelec-controll system.

CHILDREN WALK SAFELY FOR SUSTAINABLE MOBILITY
The project, adopted by the Municipality of Trento in 2004, consists of a set of actions that aims to educate children in primary schools to walk the route to school in a sustainable way and independently. It aims to promote district awareness and the rules to move safely, encouraging children to be independent and to feel member of the district. It also aims to reduce car traffic and improve the quality of life in the urban environment.

The cars are reserved to subscribers and shared amongst them. The user can rent by internet a car available on different spots in the city of Grenoble whenever he/she wants.

COMPANY MOBILITY MANAGEMENT
The Inficon company is the mobility management pioneer in Liechtenstein. Key elements of the concept were taken over, further developed and promoted by the Liechtenstein Chamber of Commerce and Industry (working group mobility management). Currently, 13 companies representing approx. 8'500 employees are taking part in the initiative. Two surveys among employees showed that the share of individual car commuting traffic decreased from 75% (2003) to 65% (2010).
