This is a report on the conference "Educating for Sustainable Tourism", organised by the IUCN - CEC The World Conservation Union, Commission on Education and Communication (East-, Northwest- and South European Committees) and by the Department of Forestry, Biotechnical Faculty, University of Ljubljana. The conference was held in Slovenia in September (17-24) 1992. The aim of the conference was to explore the role of environmental education in developing a kind of tourism, that respects the local (natural and social) environment, offers a rich and rewarding experience to the tourist and manages the environment as a resource for tourism in a manner that will guarantee its sustainability.
