There are many ways, large and small, in which politicians and administrators can build bridges for nature. CIPRA shows how in the recently released film "For hermits and fire salamanders", in which municipal representatives from South Tyrol, the Engadin and the Isère département tell the audience what nature and people can gain from connected habitats.
CIPRA is showing the 16-minute film over the coming months at various events, including at the locations where the film was made. In addition, it is available in English, French, German, Italian and Slovenian and can be seen at www.alpine-ecological-network.org. The website also features a two-minute trailer, an accompanying brochure published by ALPARC, and further aids for developing ecological networking, such as a catalogue of possible steps to take, an expert database and an interactive map showing the networking potential of a particular area. The film has been produced in the framework of the Ecological Continuum Initiative with financial support from the Valüna-Stiftung.
