The political resolution of the previous project MONITRAF calls for a further exchange of information on successful transport policies to feed a common strategy for the Alpine Space with Best Practice experience and to analyse their transferability to other regions. The new project iMONITRAF! which has startedm in autumn 2009 picks up this mandate as a first priority with this Best Practice Guide. IMONITRAF partners from the regions along the main transit corridors in Austria (Tyrol), France (Rhône-Alpes), Italy (Valle d'Aosta, Piedmont, South Tyrol, Friuli Venezia Giulia) and Switzerland (Central Switzerland, Ticino) with the support from regional experts have collected in-depth information on existing measures, their impacts on transport and environment, information on processes as well as legal and institutional aspects.
