Photovoltaics on the roof and geothermal energy in the basement. With the use of better insulation and the change to renewable energy the energy consumption of old buildings can be reduced up to 90 percent. (in the figure: the community of Wildpoldsried /D; Copy Heinz Heiss Zeitenspiegel)
Nature protection and climate protection go hand in hand: pristine habitats like a near-natural mountain forest (see figure) can mitigate the effects of climate change much better than damaged habitats.
Moral conflict in the high mountains: water power is a sustainable form of energy, which is abundant in the Alps. Yet, its excessive development threatens natural landscapes.
