Municipalities to Implement Knowledge About the Alps2006-07-06
The new DYNALP² project is to promote projects in Alpine communities to the tune of €500,000. Municipalities may now apply for co-financing for their projects. As part of the Future in the Alps Project, experts gathered an extensive body
of knowledge on sustainable development in the Alps. Putting that knowledge into
practice is the aim of the new DYNALP² project, launched by the Alliance in the
Alps network of municipalities. Member municipalities of the network of municipalities have until September 15 to submit their ideas. The documentation pack and detailed information on the competition can be downloaded from http://dynalp.alpenallianz.org/de/ausschreibung. The projects should address one of the six topics: Regional Value Added, Governance Capacity, Protected Areas, Mobility, New Forms of Decision-making, and Policies and Instruments. In making its choice the international jury will pay particular attention of the project’s sustainability: Who will best succeed in achieving a harmonious balance between ecological, economic and socio-cultural interests? Who has good ideas that can be applied to other communities and regions, ideas capable of drawing the public’s attention to the issue of sustainability? The community projects are the very core of DYNALP² - and its single biggest budget item. Another focal point comprises joint events such as workshops, excursions and international conferences. They will promote the networking of communities across the Alps and help to make local knowledge available to many others. The DYNALP² project is set to run over a period of just over three years, from April 2006 to June 2009, and is being sponsored by the MAVA Foundation for Nature Conservation in Switzerland.
