While conurbations in the Alps continue to grow unchecked, disadvantaged regions are increasingly sidelined. But rather than add to the general lamenting, the International Commission for the Protection of the Alps (CIPRA) is inviting regional players to pass on their knowledge and allow others to benefit from their experience. More... Municipalities to Implement Knowledge About the Alps(14.06.2006) The new DYNALP² project is to promote projects in Alpine communities to the tune of €500,000. Municipalities may now apply for co-financing for their projects. As part of the Future in the Alps Project, experts gathered an extensive body of knowledge on sustainable development in the Alps. Putting that knowledge into practice is the aim of the new DYNALP² project, launched by the Alliance in the Alps network of municipalities. More... Alpine Enterprise network to promote sustainability-oriented enterprises(09.03.2006) Ten partners from all the alpine countries have set themselves the aim of establishing an alpine-wide network of small and medium-sized businesses as part of the NENA Project and promote sustainability-oriented enterprises. The NENA project stands for Network Enterprise Alps – Enhancing sustainable development, competitiveness and innovation through SME and cluster co-operation; it was approved at the end of February with a budget of €2.38 million from the EU Interreg IIIB Programme, and is to run until February 2008. The idea of an alpine-wide network of enterprises came about as part of the International Commission for the Protection of the Alps CIPRA’s Future in the Alps project. More... CIPRA Competition: Eight prizes worth a total of €160,000(22.09.2005) CIPRA, the International Commission for the Protection of the Alps, has awarded prizes worth a total of €160,000 to eight outstanding projects aimed at sustainable development in the Alpine region. The awards for the Future in the Alps Competition were presented at CIPRA’s annual conference in Brig/CH on 22 September. More... By the July 20 submission deadline individuals and organisations from all eight Alpine countries had submitted more than 570 projects.
