Future in the Alps comes to a close

Future in the Alps was officially terminated last December. That makes it time to look back at the work done and the results and successes achieved in the course of the three and a half years of the project and also to look forward into the future after Future in the Alps. More

THE book: the 3rd Alpine Report presents the shapers of the future
In its 3rd Alpine Report, to be published in autumn 2007, CIPRA is making the results of Future in the Alps available to a broad public. The book, which is in two parts, talks about the people who are shaping the future in the Alps. More

Educational CD on sustainable development in the Alps
The CD provides a wide overview of key issues affecting the Alps. It is entitled "Alps Know-How" and comprises extensive teaching materials: English-language tutorials on key issues such as regional value added, governance capacity, mobility management, new forms of decision making, protected areas, etc., have been complemented with other background topics such as mountain farming, mountain forestry, tourism, energy, climate, etc. More

Memorandum on Future in the Alps
In a Memorandum, CIPRA, the International Commission for the Protection of the Alps, formulates political demands for the future development of the Alpine region as a whole. The demands are the result of the Future in the Alps Project. More

The competition
Five hundred and seventy projects, activities and initiatives were entered for the Future in the Alps competition in the hope of winning one of the 25,000 euro prizes. Eight projects were selected to receive an award, with prize-money totalling 150,000 euros. More

cc.alps
Based on the methods and products that have been developed in the project "Future in the Alps", the new CIPRA project "cc.alps" picked up the topic of sustainable management of the consequences of climate change. More

Implementing knowledge
Future in the Alps also generated two major independent projects that address the topics and findings of the project: DYNALP², a support programme for local authorities, and NENA, an Interreg project for the development of a network of companies.
