Establishing an Alpine Ecological Network

Inaugural Meeting of the Platform "Ecological Network" under the Alpine Convention

This report is reflecting the presentations and discussions during the first meeting of the Platform “Ecological Network” under the Alpine Convention. It provides an inventory on the initial situation, as countries have been working on linking protected areas and wider countryside protection in the past, and outlines successful examples within countries and of transboundary projects. It also defines current gaps, areas of work that the Platform members considered priority for further activities, and looks into the future of how to establish and maintain an alpine wide ecological network during the years to come.
