Bregenzerwälder Tracht als lebendiges BrauchtumSince the 17th century the Bregenzerwälder costume for women has not changed in its main aspects but has just adapted to the times. It is the oldest costume in the German speaking area, however it is still lively and cannot be imagined outside the social life. It is a lively element of the living customs of the region. The production is extremely time- and cost-intensive as in the past, the necessary skills are no longer readily available. Aims:The exhibition shows the crafts elements of the costume, which are also shown in the video, and makes them accessible also during the year in the costume factory to the general public. The work of the craftspeople is at the centre of the exhibition. Through explanations and guide tours the significance of the single elements is made clear. The video is part of the tours in the Costume museum and makes it possible to have easier access to the understanding of the costly production and the significance of the costume in the social life. Through the making of the video, a stronger link of the population with the Costume factory is promoted, as part of DYNALP. The memory and the representation of the relevant customs should arouse the interest of local inhabitants in their own costume and encourage them to wear it. This way it is also possible to support the crafts around the costume. Realization:Explanation of contents and objectives of the video; about one year required to make the video since production and the relevant uses are linked to the various seasons.Involvement of the Wearer association of the Costume Factory, costume wearers, artist craftspeople, local associations in the making of the video.
