The natural and cultural heritage of the Massello valley: an opportunity for tourism and the local economy while taking care of the environment

 

Actions for the protection and enhancement of the cultural landscape, of the cultural identity (linguistic, religious, territorial) together with economic initiatives (not only regarding tourism) without which Massello (which currently has less than 100 residents) would be destined to disappear.


Aims:

As part of DYNALP development of a concept for rural tourism, starting from the enhancement of the cultural and natural heritage of the territory, and involving the local population and businesses.

Realization:

Creation of a common platform that involves all the local players in the field in which the following topics are developed: participation and cooperation, environmental compatibility and quality, conflict between tourism and environment. Creation of routes for rural tourism and a paper about services for mountains.

Impact:

Economic: increased employment, increase in low impact tourism, reviving of agricultural and handicraft activities;
Socio-cultural: enhancement of local knowledge, revitalising of the territory's culture, creation of a network for trans-regional and trans-national relations;
Environmentally: Reduction of rural migration, environment protection.
