Future of the Local Municipality's Forestry and Alpine EconomiesAs part of DYNALP a public discussion is being sought with the citizens of the political municipality to come up with future-oriented solutions in the municipality to problems in such areas as administration, forestry, alpine land, valley produce and roads. The local municipality of Grabs is comprised mainly of forests and alpine land, but has no building land. The Municipality of Grabs would like to use the project to initiate a participatory process for forest and alpine use and find a funding means. Aims:In an active citizen process, new solutions and ideas must be discussed and devised together for a "positive" future of local towns. Job preservation and services for the population as well as protection and care of natural goods and existing infrastructures are in the forefront.Realization:The process triggered much movement and discussion. The work group, including 18 heads, has taken ideas from the population and has further developed them. Based on this result and the wide support in the population, it was possible to take concrete decisions for the company support as well as for a sustainable forestry and alpine economy.Impact:The process has made the theme become an open discussion in the society. Prejudices and misinformation were explained and new development processes were triggered, e.g. in the fields of sale, environmental education and resource management. Collaboration with other towns in the area and wood owners is envisaged.Location:GrabsInvolved:Local Municipality of Grabs, Municipality of Grabs, citizens and residents, forest usersFinancing:INTERREG IIIB and local municipality/municipalityContact person:Bernegger Holzbau AGWalter Eggenberger Löwenstrasse 6 9472 Grabs CH E-mail: walter.eggenberger@bernegger-holzbau.ch Further information : |
