Balancing Alpine energy and nature
The Alps have great potential for the use of renewable energy. Thereby they can make a valuable contribution to mitigating climate change. This, however, means increasing pressures on nature. What could be the impact of such changes on the habitats of animals and plants? How do they affect land use and soil quality? How much renewable energy can reasonably be used? CIPRA played a leading role in the development of the recharge.green project and is now responsible for public relations as well as organising both the mid-term and the concluding conferences. More

CIPRA as the most sustainable organization of the year 2012
CIPRA received an award from the Netherlands: The largest Alpine Club outside of the Alps elected the CIPRA as the most sustainable organization of the year 2012. The members of the Royal Dutch Climbing and Mountaineering Association (NKBV) chose CIPRA in an online voting. The award recognizes the long-term effort to shape the life in the Alps in a way that people and nature can live happily together. Every year over one million tourists from the Netherlands come to the Alps. The NKBV has 55,000 members. More

MountEE
Sustainable building in europe’s mountain municipalities
The house of the 21st century is nice and cool in summer, nice and warm in winter, hardly uses energy and – being built of local wood – stimulates the regional economy. The MountEE project explores ways in which municipalities in Europe’s mountain areas can create such a building culture. Seven partners in European mountain areas – among them CIPRA – work together, learn together and jointly improve their strategies and construction methods. More

It’s well researched, entertaining and colourful: "Alps insight", the topical magazine – formerly CIPRA Info – addresses current issues relating to the Alps from a wide variety of viewpoints. Background information from the experts is accompanied by concrete examples, whether on the building of second homes, global warming, biodiversity, energy-efficient construction methods, innovations and much, much more. Right across the Alps.
