In order to promote the local wood industry and to reduce the individual C02 balance the Natural Regional Parc of Chartreuse supports local farmers who use local wood for their buildings and installations (up to 30% of the building cost). The production and the transportation of local wood do not require much energy. Renewable and recyclable, the use of wood for farm construction reduces greenhouse gas emissions.

* maintaining the traditional sawmills which are transforming 2/3 of the yearly coniferous wood harvest of the mountain massif * landscape integration and protection of the natural environment by the creation of forest accesses * help towards the realisation of afforestation in the municipalities of the parc * education and sensitisation concerning forest issues * setting up of a fauna-flora observatory * realisation of a forest charta for the territority (sustainable development action plan)
The wood production of the mountain massiv is estimated at 160 000 m3/year. A partnership between the parc, the regional forest center and the forester group created and finance the position of a parc forest technician. More than 120 wood industry enterprises are installed in the park (of which 15 are traditional woodsewers).
