Production of hydrogen through photovoltaic
Produzione di idrogeno tramite fotovoltaico, Comune di Isera (TN)
This climate response measure was researched by the project team as part of the cc.alps project in 2009.
:
The plant in Isera produces hydrogen using photovoltaic energy (produced through photovoltaic panels), otherwise hard to stock.

The plant aims to produce electric Energy from renewable or alternative sources that allow to reduce or to avoid pollutant emissions during the energy’s productive process. The plant stocks the energy produced during the day by the photovoltaic panels and use it in form of hydrogen when is needed.
A photovoltaic installation (8kW) supplies the electrolyser feeding to produce hydrogen. The gas purified is pressed and stocked in tanks. The electrolyser can be fed both with electric energy or photovoltaic panels. The hydrogen is used to feed two generators able to produce a total power of 8 kW.
The guarantee to use only methods with a null environmental impact is the main characteristic of the plant. This innovative technique allows to stock the energy produced, bypassing one of the main problems using photovoltaic energy: its production, possible only during the day.
Administration (local, regional, national)
The municipality of Isera has charged El.Ma. to plan and realize a coogeneration system with the collaboration of the Trento’s University Physics Department.
