Energie- und Umweltzentrum Allgäu (eza!) is a non-profit corporation that was founded by several municipalities, businesses and action groups to promote energy efficiency and renewable energy. eza! collaborates with all media to inform the public of the advantages of energy conservation and renewable energy, and organizes events such as the Building Modernization Days.

eza! provides information and consulting services on the efficient use of energy and renewable energies for house owners, constructors and consumers. The aim is to promote investment in measures for energy conservation both in new building of houses as well as in renovation and reconstruction of existing buildings. Through this project a contribution to climate protection and environmental protection in the Allgaeu region shall be made and new chances for regional economy shall be created.
eza!'s core service is energy consulting. More than 35 local offices provide inhabitants of the Allgaeu region with unbiased expert information free of charge. The Agency also offers on-site energy consulting, trains energy consultants, and provides in-service training to energy specialists. Local authorities also consult eza! on all matters related to energy management. eza!'s services also include media work and organisation of events, e.g. the Old Building Days. The Agency opened eza! House - a building for demonstration, consulting and training that was set up with the support of the "High-tech Offensive Zukunft Bayern" programme - in order to better fulfill its function.
Between 2001 and 2004 there has been an additional investment of 55 Mio. € ;and the demand has been increasing ever since. Every year more than 3000 energy consultancies take place in the 40 local consulting offices. More than 120 companies in the eza!-partner network have committed to quality control and further education. There has been 10% energy conservation through optimizing operations in more than 140 properties. Each year since 2000 more than 10,000 visitors have been counted during the Old Building Days. Each year more than 300 participants of the in-service training become energy specialists.
