valorisation of local wood
heat network

One of the objectives was to reduce the costs as the former heat network was depending completely on fuel. The fuel cost raise in 2000 was the trigger to start the operation. Moreover the municipality wished to valorise the local energy resources.

The heat network working since 2002 is linked to about 12 public buildings (the hospital, the tribunal, the school, the offices and activity centre of the community of municipalities (Communauté de communes), the culture and youth centre, 3 social residences comprising 186 appartments)

71% of the warm water and heating need supplied by the local wood heat network; 600 Tep/an of fuel (1 T of fuel = 1 tep = 11630 kwh = 3,5 T CO2 emission) economised; 503 T of fossil carbon avoided every year; economic fallout at about 39 636€ per year representing one to two full time jobs; reduction of expenses on heating for the tenants of the social appartments (estimated at 18%)
