Bolzano is one of the first alpine Italian towns with a car sharing service. The members do not have an own personal car, but share a fleet of cars available 24 hours a day, saving time and money and reducing the number of circulating vehicles.

Bolzano’s car sharing consists of a fleet of cars available 24 hours a day, every day, for the subscribers. Every subscriber can choose the car fit to his need with a preventive reservation (spacious car suitable for long distances in holidays period or small city-car for short daily movements). To use the car sharing service in addition to a yearly subscription, two more fares are requested: one hourly and another per kilometre. Bolzano’s car sharing has two standing areas into underground parking to stock cars and since 2008 two areas more in the town of Merano.
Car sharing service allows to reduce the number of circulating vehicles and through this practice pollutant emissions. Besides, the subscribers can save a lot of money to manage their cars paying just a yearly subscription and only in days when they really use the car with no costs for buying, upkeep, road taxes and insurances. At the moment about 200 users have a subscription to the service and among them there are many important member of the city's entrepreneurial world.

Bolzano’s Car Sharing born as a non-profit cooperative and the initiative is promoted and supported by the environmental Institute Ökoinstitut Südtirol / Alto Adige; In the starting stage it has been supported by local Institutions.
