Bolzano’s Province provides the use of local public transports promoting very discounted subscriptions available for students and elderly people between 60 and 70 years old. Subscriptions are totally free for people over 70 years old.

To provide the use of public transportation promoting discount fares for some categories of citizens. To reduce private motorized traffic.
With the measure Abo+ the Province of Bolzano makes commuting to school free for students that use public transportation. About 27.000 students (from elementary to high school) can reach their classrooms travelling for free, both with regular buses and special runs established when needed. Whereas Abo 60+ provides yearly subscriptions for people aged between 60 and 70 to the whole local net of transportation (railway of Val Venosta, regional trains and main cableways are included too) paying a discounted yearly fare of 100 Euro. A free card is given to the over 70 year old.
Travel Coupon has been already requested from more than 27.000 students. The use of public transportation for people over age 60 has become cheaper and induces them to leave their cars at home. Recently the complaints of bus drivers about the excessive presence of elderly people on the means of transports testified the success of the initiative (see attached article).
