:
The idea behind Alpine Awareness is simply to promote sustainable mobility (especially public transport, but also riding the bicycle and walking).

Promoting sustainable mobility in Alpine tourist areas. Partners of the ALPINE AWARENESS project have the common objective of contributing to sustainable transport in the Alpine area and thus, stimulating a new way of life in the Alps. The project aims at reducing the negative impact, particularly air pollution, caused by motorised travel - especially by cars.

To support the programme surveys, information campaigns, and training are done.

The Technical University Munich is carrying out the survey ‘Soft mobility in the Bavarian Alps. Parts of the survey are: supply and demand’ analysing mobility and spare time behaviour, needs and motives of 400 alpine tourists as well as the forms of utilization of touring information material. Additionally several in-depth-interviews are conducted with operators of the alpine tourism and mobility sector confronting them with the survey’s results and learning their point of view. By a synopsis of the surveys' and the interviews’ results measures can be recommended to operators in transport and tourism services how supplies can be best adjusted to the tourist’s demands and optimized. Furtheron recommendations for training concepts in the transport and tourism services will be provided.
