- Abstract
- This document aims to reinforce the culture of dialogue and consultation in the EU. At the same time it is a contribution towards better governance and regulation. The communication presents rationale for the consultation process with emphasis on the specific role of civil society organizations and describes the ongoing process of improving the Commission consultation procedures. The document also lays down a number of general principles and a set of minimum standards for the Commission’s consultation processes. Two sources of information and channels for direct communication with the Commission are presented: Web portals: interactive policy making (http://europa.eu.int/yourvoice/ipm/index_en.htm) and Your voice in Europe (http://europa.eu.int/yourvoice/index_en.htmIf), and the data base of consultative bodies (CONECCS). Since the document refers to the practice of Commission, it represents state of the art and a reference of a highest authority, common to the most Alpine countries. It can also inform regional and local stakeholders about their opportunities for communication with the Commission.
