Abstract
products "from the region are booming in recent years. The question is: when is a product called "regional"?. What has the origin of the product to deal with the quality and the production manner?Product chains are analysed in their way from the acre to the dining table on the basis of specific regional products like the "Nürnberger Bratwurst" and the "Aischgründer Karpfen" and common nourishments like bread and milk. The study cases show how products are developing from "origin" and how regionality, producer and consumer of regional awareness are made. Regional products are connections between spatial and social proximity in contrast of the anonymity of modern markets.
