Regionale Wirtschaftskreisläufe und regionale Wachstumspolitik. Regionalpolitische Prioritäten für unterschiedliche Regionen im Schweizer Alpenraum auf der Basis regionaler Input-Output Tabellen.

- Abstract
- A remodelling of regional policy instruments calls for a greater knowledge of the regions' economic nterrelationships. A particularly important requirement is the setting of regional priorities for different growth strategies. Helpful here is the use of economic/
mathematical models of the regional economic flow patterns. The models describe current actual situations and so make it possible to derive future desired conditions. In order to examine priorities for growth policy, case studies were conducted to establish
regional economic flow models for the regions Val Bregaglia (GR), Val Müstair (GR), Urserntal (UR), Brig-Visp-Naters (VS) and Vallemaggia (TI). The regions selected for study were divided into typical depletion areas (Val Bregaglia, Val Müstair and Urserntal), an nner-Alpine urban centre (Brig-Vsp-Naters) and a so-called centre-like transformation region (Vallemaggia).
The regional economic flow models thus obtained are based on regional input/output tables. These record all the monetary flows of a region. The table classifies these money flows by business sector, domestic and public budgets, and also by regions of origin and stination. In this way, and assuming that economic principles apply, it is possible to calculate direct and indirect mutual influencing factors and interrelationships in the regional economic flow pattern. From the sum of all influences and nterdependencies it is possible to explain in detail the generation of regional economic growth. Conversely,
it can also be shown why a region is unable to grow much and this may contribute to the gradual departure of the population.
