Abstract
The Magadino plain is situated between the cities Lugano, Bellinzona and Locarno in the Ticino canton. It is characterised by built-up areas, agricultural areas and natural swampland. The relevant transport infrastructure, existing or planned, within the region that affects the transport and regional development are the motorway A2, the high street A13, the regional rail and bus services, and AlpTransit.
