Abstract: This report is the field report to the survey of tourist behaviour which was carried out within the framework of the National Research Programme 48 “Landscapes and Habitats of the Alps”. First of all it describes the development of the questionnaire. Furthermore the way of conducting the survey is explained for the pretest as well as for the main survey. Afterwards first results of the main survey are presented. At the same time the representativeness of the sample is analysed. Finally the experiences are once more summarised and recommendations for such a kind of tourist survey are given.
