Abstract
The publication discuss the ecological and economical potential of a region to use local wood for energy efficient architecture and constructions. The advancement of wood and wood production chains raises the regional value added in a region and contribute to a sustainable forest management. Private households have the same energy use like the transport sector. Especially the heating increases the energy use in the households. It is possible to reduce energy consumption with energy efficient constructions in houses (passiv house, minergy -p-standard, solar constructions) about 80-90%. Until now, there is not pressed home an advantage of the potential of the minergy houses. The tecnical standard is not used for new constructions. What is the reason for this circumstance? One reason is that construction and architecture are not tecnical benefits, but they are determined through cultural dimension, familiarity, habits and conventions. Therefore, architects should embed the new tecnical standards in their architectural culture. Another possibility to reduce energy consume would be using especific construction material which is CO2 neutral, for example regional wood. There is an immense potential to increase regional added value while using and processing regional wood in the region and the costs for transport and energy consumption of transport can be reduced like this.
