- Abstract
- The volume is the result of a CNR project on the structure and the evolution of the Italian economy and deals with the problems of Italian local development, usually based on the little enterprises. Great value is given to the central position of the territory as a whole of historical, social and political facts, which can characterise it and give to it particular advantages, and to the role of local social actors. All this leads to spatial differentiation of development and to local production specialization processes (production districts). An appropriate utilisation of endogenous resources, sustained by incentive policies, can bring to new forms of local development, which already is or could become auto-centred. The volume is very interesting for Q1 because it analyses the problem of local development in an organic and coherent conceptual frame, defining those aspects related with local potentials (environment, economy, society) and external aspects (relationships with the rest of the country and with the general market). The three study cases considered, none of which in the alpine space, are still interesting because their results allow the interpretation of similar situations that can be imagined in the alpine regions. Thus the theoretical methodology presented can be applied and transferred, the perspective adopted is both inter and transdisciplinar and it also considers the role played by public authority (Q5, Q6).
