Abstract

The book, edited by INSOR (Istituto Nazionale di Sociologia Rurale), deals with the problems related to give a clear definition of mountain region for the italian territory. It also contains essays dedicated to the connections between demography and economy, to services and quality life in mountain regions and to rural settlements. An important chapter analyses the theme of forests and forestry and the last part of the book contains a political proposal for a new policy for the italian mountain regions. The book is very interesting for Q1 since it combines different statistical datas, which of course need to be upgraded, in order to picture the italian moutain regions and their perspective and open questions in the XXI Century.
