Abstract

The volume, according to the guiding philosophy of the Nineties that mountain regions could be also a resource and not only a problem for a country, contains an analysis of the economic state of the italian mountain (Alps, Apennines, island mountains), but even its socio-cultural aspects, the proposals presented for its renovation, the existing legislation (both Italian and foreign), proposals of a new way of governance. Researches have been carried on through multi-varied analysis, interviews to privileged witnesses, collection of existing specific bibliography. Interesting thematic cartography of the whole Italian alpine row, related to six different types of italian mountain town.
