- Abstract
- This guide is designed as a basic tool for persons involved in participation projects which have to deal with questions relevant for preservation and sustainable use of biological diversity. These are for example nature protection projects, ecological planning projects, agriculture or forest management projects, spatial planning or infrastructure projects. The target group are those who have to implement the ´Agreement on Biological Diversity´ at local and regional level. Persons concerned are for example administrative officers, land owners, land users in the broadest sense, other interest groups, NGO´s and also planners and project managers. Beyond the topic biodiversity this guide provides suggestions for all those dealing with questions of participation in space-oriented projects. This guide gives attention to • the terms participation and biodiversity • the preparation and the implementation of participation projects • methods, important factors for success and risks of participation projects • fields of conflicts which can appear in ecosystem plannings. The readers are guided through the project schedule on the basis of checklists and practical examples; they learn to better estimate the situation and the opportunities for action in the initial phase, they also learn to define framework conditions and project structures as well as to design and implement the participation project. The guide addresses the issue of public relations and the relevance of group dynamics processes.
