SLOW: Nachhaltiges Wirtschaften, Verkehrsvermeidung & Entschleunigung, eine alternative Perspektive für Europa
- Topics
- Abstract
- The authors describe the connection between transport, economy and regional development. By means of the scenarios SLOW and FAST different regional developments are contrasted. The authors recommend several actions for a "slow region" and a slow regional development: no new roads and no speeding-up by accelerating roads, systematik bottle-neck management and the strenghtened usage of infrastructure, expansion of transport by rail. A reinforced regional orientation is not only attractive because of transport aspects but also because of ecological and economical aspects. Regional development is a matter of gaining back political and economical capacity to act. The EU's model "regional Europe" should be taken much more seriously. Now EU regional politics is a disguise for adjustment to the global market.
