Abstract
Cooperative regional planning is easier to claim than to implement. Cooperation in regional planning is time consumptive and often not so effective due to the limited room for manoeuvre within the juridical framework. Moreover, the regional planners are increasingly confronted with actors disposing over powerful financial, political or juridical ressources. The authors plead for a firm integration of the regional planning sector within the broad institutional and political context (legislative frameworks, authorities, non-institutional actors. Moreover regional planning should draw on the political rear cover of the respective panels like e.g. planning assemblies or planning council to gain influence within the planning practice.
