Short description
To encourage the use of bicycles in the Grand Lyon agglomeration, the Communauté urbaine has set up a public-private partnership with the firm JC Decaux. To this day 173 free-service bicycle stations, totaling about 2000 bicycles have been distributed in the agglomeration. The service is almost free, garanteeing it's success. After only 5 months, the service counts 24 000 subscribers (18 000 year subscriptions, 5 000 week subscriptions). It is already perceived that new cyclists use this system.

Project executive
Communauté urbain du Grand Lyon : this cluster of 55 urban or peri-urban communities counts 1 200 000 inhabitants. The cluster plans and manages various public services, including mobility. To develop the use of bicycles in the agglomeration, the Grand Lyon has signed a very innovative contract with the private firm JC Decaux. The 13 year contract includes the renovation of the public amenities, the exploitation of the ourdoor advertising as well as the creation and management of Velo'V.
