- Short description
- * Project updated on 25 April 2007 according to information from the project contact persons * The project is a good example of implementing mobility management in a medium size company. The company moved to another building where the number of parking sites was reduced by purpose. In parallel a mobility management plan was set up and realised.
- Project executive
- Inficon AG Balzers with 215 employees
- Participants
- Employees of the INFICON AG in Balzers and of the UPC Processing AG in Balzers
- Objectives
- INFICON's intention was reducing energy consumption in commuter transport and reducing the dimension of parking space in their new building. A modal split goal was pre-defined: 40% motorised individual transport, 40% collective transport (90% public transport, 5% car pooling and 5% Unaxis company bus), 20% walking and bicycle riding. Another goal was that the project should not affect costs.
- Activities
- Implementation of a mobility club with a free membership for employees. Members commit to drive alone by car to work max. 24 times (Top) or 96 times (Basic) a year. Members get a financial support of 330 CHF, a free day parking space when using their car, a free membership of Mobility Car Sharing Switzerland, free usage of Mobility cars, less expensive subscription for tickets of the Swiss Railway, raffles for "Top" club members. The charge for the parking space is adapted to company defined commuter transport criteria. There's a yearly bicycle repair day; covered bicycle parking in front of the main entrance.
- Results
- Better health of employees because of more exercise, less expensive commuter transport for employees, reduction of carbon dioxide, particulate matter and other air pollutants. The modal split was changed from 65% to 46% motorised individual transport. The costs for the company were reduced by mobility management.
- Budget
- 71000 Euro per year (Euro)
- Financial backer
- Inficon AG
- Modal split survey of the Liechtenstein Chamber of Commerce and Industry LIHK
- INF=INFICON, P = manufacturing enterprise, D = service provider. The journeys to work places in Liechtenstein are undertaken in the yearly average: 5% by foot or bicycle (F&R-Verkehr), 20%by collective transport (KV) (public transport, car pooling, company bus), 75% by motorized individual transport (MIV) (95% car)
- Development of the modal split at the INFICON Ltd
- Andere = by foot/bicycle and collective transport. MIV = by car and motorcycle.
