Comments
Impact on nature and environment
Reduction of motorised individual transport by shifting to public transport for tourism in the Alps trough sensitisation on nature and environment.
Economic value added
Integration of peripheral alpine regions into the tourism branch and improvement of products and services provided in alpine tourism. Creation of additional jobs in alpine regions through an increased demand for touristy services, improvement of the efficiency of public transport in alpine regions through an increased demand for public transport.
Socio-cultural value added
Encouragement of target groups inside SAC: youth, families, women. Encouragement of cooperation between urban, rural and alpine regions. Promotion of exercise and sports activities. Promotion of family and group trips.
Innovative content
AlpenOnline as an internet platform providing all necessary information for a tour to the Alps with public transport is an innovation itself. The most innovative element within AlpenOnline is the use of the GPS technology to manage tourism in the Alps.
Good governance
AlpenOnline has a clear project organisation with implemented controlling and monitoring.
PR impact
Public Relations is made by cooperations with the tourism organisation "Schweiz Tourismus" and the magazine "Schweizer Familie". Furthermore, press conferences are held to present idea, aims and results of AlpenOnline.
Multiplier effect / networking
AlpenOnline promotes sustainable leisure mobility in alpine regions. The positive experiences within AlpenOnline can influence the general leisure mobility behaviour, which is not necessarily linked with mountain sports activities. SAC was contacted by the French, the Italian, the German and the Austrian Alps clubs as well as by the "Naturfreunde Schweiz" concerning the services and products provided by AlpenOnline.
Transferability
Besides the transferability of single elements of AlpenOnline to other hiking and mountain sports clubs, the concept and the realisation of AlpenOnline is also of great relevance for general sports clubs.
